New Sanctions: Blinken: Russia Received Iranian Missiles for Use in Ukraine

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken confirmed on Tuesday that Iran has provided Russia with ballistic missiles, and that Moscow is preparing to use it in Ukraine within weeks, noting that Washington will impose sanctions on Tehran to ignore Western warnings in this regard.

"Russia has received shipments from these ballistic missiles and will likely use them within weeks in Ukraine against the Ukrainians," Blinkkin said, during a joint press conference with his British counterpart David Lami in London.

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy announced on Tuesday that he will visit Kyiv this week with his US counterpart Antony Blinken, as Western allies seek to reaffirm their commitment to supporting Ukraine in the face of Russia's war. "We are the closest of allies, so I am delighted that we will be going together, demonstrating our commitment to Ukraine," Lammy said at a press conference with Blinken in London, noting that it will be "the first joint visit of its kind in more than a decade."

Blinken held talks with Lamy in London on Tuesday, where he is also due to meet Prime Minister Keir Starmer, with the aim of demonstrating resolve to help Ukraine and narrow differences between the two sides over Gaza.

Blinken's visit comes days before Starmer is due to visit the White House on Friday.

Blinken is looking at ways to boost support for Ukraine, which is continuing its offensive into Russian territory as Russian forces continue to advance in eastern Ukraine.

Stamm has repeatedly said he will maintain the policy of his Conservative predecessor Rishi Sunak to firmly support Ukraine in its confrontation with Russia, with London being one of Kiev's most prominent backers.

The United Kingdom said on Friday it would supply Ukraine with 650 missile systems to help it with air defense, following reservations expressed by President Volodymyr Zelensky about the slow pace of military aid to his country.
