Egypt: Everyone knows the effort we made to destroy the tunnels with Gaza

Egypt has once again directed its criticism at Israel, stressing that it continues to spread lies.

Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati stressed, during a joint press conference with his Danish counterpart, today, Monday, that "everyone knows the efforts made by Egypt to combat terrorism and destroy the tunnels on the border with the Gaza Strip."

Lies

He also stressed that "the lies being repeated aim to distract attention from reaching a deal that guarantees a ceasefire, the release of prisoners and the flow of aid from Gaza," referring to recent statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

He also explained that his country is a responsible state that is aware of its duties.

He concluded by stressing that Egypt will continue to make every effort possible to lead the negotiation process, saying, "We will not despair until the aggression on Gaza stops."

Egypt, which is sponsoring, along with the United States and Qatar, the efforts to negotiate a ceasefire in Gaza and exchange prisoners between Israel and Hamas, has accused Netanyahu more than once of obstructing these efforts through his intransigence.

It also criticized his insistence on military control over the Rafah border crossing with the devastated Palestinian Strip, the Philadelphi Corridor (Salah al-Din Corridor), and the Netzarim Corridor, which has complicated the ongoing talks for months.

It is noteworthy that this Egyptian anger stems from Netanyahu's intransigence and his insistence on a military presence in Gaza and on the Strip's borders with Egypt, as he has repeatedly refused in the past to abandon this demand.

He also did not accept any of the alternative solutions offered to him, including a transitional plan presented by Washington in late May.

Meanwhile, the embattled prime minister has faced and continues to face, in addition to Egyptian and American discontent alike, pressures inside Israel.
