Armed factions advance in northern Syria.. Here is the backstage of what is happening
The sudden field developments that began last Wednesday morning in the Syrian city of Aleppo, located in northern Syria, and extended to Hama in its center after the entry of "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham" accompanied by armed factions into the two cities, portend a new reality in the country, especially in Aleppo, which was completely under the control of the Syrian government forces since the opposition factions lost it in 2016. So what happened and what is the position of the guarantor powers regarding what is happening, especially Turkey and Russia?
Although the Syrian army announced that its withdrawal from Aleppo was intended to prepare for a counterattack, the "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham" and its allies were able to enter a number of towns in the Hama countryside after taking control of Aleppo, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. This led to the killing of 327 people, most of them from the warring parties, in addition to civilians, since the clashes between the two sides began last Wednesday.
"An exceptional opportunity for Turkey"
In this context, the Syrian political analyst Ghassan Ibrahim saw that "what is really happening is that the Turkish side seized an exceptional opportunity from the change in geopolitical powers in the region, realizing that the Israelis have weakened the Iranians in Lebanon and Gaza, and the militias affiliated with Iran have become very weak. It is known that those surrounding Aleppo, especially its countryside and the contact line, are mostly militias from Hezbollah and the Revolutionary Guards, and others. Therefore, the Turkish plan has changed from attacking towards the Kurdish majority areas, to removing the Iranians from that area." He also suggested in statements to "Al Arabiya.net"/Al Hadath.net that "the Turkish side will most likely not carry out such an action without informing the Russians."
